I’ve got a story I want to share about my five-year-old daughter, and how it will help your business…
Have you noticed, that nothing works the first time?
Well nothing that’s worth doing, anyway.
Take sales as an example… The first time I tried selling with a different approach I failed miserably.
I went from selling 10 packs to selling 3-month programs. I was sick of the inconsistent revenue, and I knew direct debit was the way to go.
It didn’t work. I think I got almost ten “no’s” in a row.
That didn’t work the first time.
Then there was the time I printed out flyers for my PT studio.
I sent 25,000 DL flyers out and boy was I excited. I had visions of my phone ringing off the hook. I even though I might need a second phone line to deal with the incoming calls.
Can you guess how many phone calls I got?
ZERO.
Facebook ads are exactly the same.
The first time I set up an ad campaign, I hit refresh about 9,000 times just to see if they were working.
Guess how many leads I got?
ZERO… again.
They didn’t work because nothing works the first time. Not if it’s worth it.
So let me tell you a quick story about this…
My daughter recently purchased a hula hoop.
She walked into a shop on the Gold Coast and was instantly obsessed. She’d never used one before.
So she picks out a bright pink hula hoop and she tries it in the shop. and the first time she did it she got zero.
She tried again.
The second time?
Zero.
About ten goes went past and she got ONE spin.
And she kept trying. Over and over and over. Never losing enthusiasm.
By day one, 10 spins. She’s over the moon and tries even harder.
Day two, 25 spins.
Day three and she was close to 100 spins.
Can you imagine most adulsts trying this….?
They would have given up after the second or third spin.
It’s the same thing in business.
If this were a Facebook campaign? Most adults would quit.
If this was a new way of selling, most adults would quit.
The thing in business is nothing is going to work the first time. New sales techniques, new mindset practices, new FB ads…
Anything worthwhile is not going to work the first time.
It’s not going to work.
You have to persist.
You have to be like my daughter with the hula hoop and just keep spinning until it finally works.
If there’s anyone telling you things in business will work the first time, they’re lying and you should run a mile.
With Facebook ads, for example, the clicks won’t work, the image won’t work, the picture might be off.
There’s always these things you have to go in and fix.
But when you get it right? Then nothing is more satisfying.
If it’s worth doing, it won’t work the first time.
But if you stick with it, I guarantee it’ll be worth it.
I hope my hula hoop story was useful.
I’ll talk soon, Cheers!
