Hey guys, Pete here in Melbourne. I had a question from a client, just now, and I think this is really common. I felt this on a lot other coaches, trainers and people in this space have felt this.
I want to share my cure for imposter syndrome.
So, imposter syndrome is essentially “Who am I to be teaching this?”
I don’t have a qualification, the life experience, the skills necessary, the right to teach this, right? And I think sometimes, we’ve all felt like someone need to grant me the permission to coach on business, relationships, health, fitness in my game.
And I have seen this a lot.
I don’t feel qualified to help these women get in shape. When someone asks this…
… I ask this simple question which is this:
“Can your clients get results faster with your help than they could without your help?”
And she was silent for very long- 15 or 20 seconds and she said ‘Well, yes’. And I said, “Right, case closed.”
You are qualified to teach people in this niche so don’t ask that question again. And it is really that simple, that’s the ultimate test.
If you’re worried about “Who am I to teach X”, “What qualifications do i need to teach X”, “Who’s gonna grant me permission to teach and coach in this topic”, that’s the ultimate question.
“Can my prospect or can my clients get results faster with my help than he or she could without my help?” and if the answer is “Yes”, then I’m giving you right now, from my camera to yours, permission to coach, to help, to give advice on that topic, okay?
Imposter syndrome is real.
It’s common at all levels, high levels and massive business levels.
It’s completely normal, but that’s the ultimate question and if you’re head shaking when you ask that yourself this question, then right now, I’m giving you permission to go forth and help more people.
Is that helpful?
Thank you very much.
