Hey everyone, Pete Tansley here. On the line I have a client of mine, Catherine.
Catherine, please tell everyone who you are and what you do.
Hi guys! I’m Catherine. I live in New Zealand and I am a trainer in Auckland.
I am directed to female clients and I’m helping them in body recomposition, weight loss and also helping with fair mental mindset.
Can you describe the watch before we chatted and before you reached out?
I just remember having no clarity. I had no idea where to put my focus. I felt completely alone.
I’ve been searching for someone to help but no one seem to understand what my business entailed.
I just remember being broke, almost just desperate and really eager and passionate but having no idea what I was doing and so many aspects of my business.
What was your reality of the situation?
It’s actually really weird to reflect because it was pretty sloppy but I had probably like maybe 10 or 8 clients.
I didn’t have a sales process. I just didn’t feel doing consultations, I hated sales.
I didn’t check my accounts. I just always hoped that there would be money.
The hope and pray strategy.
What was the impact back then for you personally?
I’ve also felt like a failure. I’ve given up my dancing. I was a dancer for 3 years and I came home I was like ‘Okay I’m going to get the goal by myself.’
I felt I was such a stress to myself, my family and my boyfriend.
I was constantly worried if I could pay bills.
What were the main things you took from that and what was the transformation for your business from that?
I sense that it was self-paced because once you go to the academy, all the information was there for you.
It wasn’t kind something that wouldn’t fit into my lifestyle.
When you’re in personal training, you kind of trying to fit to it from the end.
I just felt so confident going to work even though it wasn’t right then.
I knew, that this was going to work.
There was a point in the program that I’d almost given up.
Then, I re-did all of the work again.
It’s an active program because you’re constantly re-understanding and re-applying.
Every time you master something, there’s more to master.
I remember when I first started, I had the wrong idea what it was.
I was like ‘Should I implement this later and just learn about it now or should I start doing this now?’
‘Of course, you’re starting it now.’
When you came aboard, there wasa nervousness which I think is quite normal.
We worked a lot on your pricing and on getting clear on who you want to help.
What were the main things for you going through it?
I think my greatest obstacle was my mindset.
I didn’t even realize that. I thought I had a pretty good mindset and I still know that that’s what I’m working on.
Understanding the processes and the logistics, they are very straightforward and simple.
It’s actually just about believing and trusting.
I think once we got that kind of processes, that wasn’t an issue anymore.
That’s still hard to do. But the biggest thing that impacted me was having someone to trust and also giving up that trust as well and not trying to think.
Totally. I think the best clients are always coachable.
They just do what the mentor says.
I think as well what people say, I need to learn how to sell, I need Facebook ads but the mindset is the foundation of all that.
It was cool to witness that that’s your transformation.
We’ve got the before story, and we fixed a lot of those things.
Where are you now? What’s business and life like?
At the start of the program you kind of ask us to like a vision into the future.
I actually re-read that and I am in that vision, essentially I’m earning the income I’d planned which is double where I was when I first started.
I’m in a boutique gym, which is where I want to be and I’m training female clients only because that is my passion.
I have more time to plan on my future business goals not just slogging through and getting through the week.
I’m living in an apartment that I waited for.
It’s just perfect.
It’s literally what I’d written down has come to pass. It’s the freakiest thing because I was always like that would be nice but not me.
It’s just fallen into place.
That’s freaky but it’s not surprising but I’ve heard that story before but it’s not surprising but it’s come through.
The thing I love most like the theme here is like you’re in control now.
You’re in control of your income and of the days you work.
I had four jobs when I first started and I was having breakdowns.
I crashed my car two times last year, my stress levels were just out of control.
Totally. It’s like you’re in a different life.
What were the two or three top lessons you learned along the way?
Top lesson, for me is allowing myself to believe I could be a successful trainer.
Rising up and leading myself.
Seeing myself first off as like I am a successful trainer rather than hoping for things.
Second of all, I think I learned the hard way that nothing comes unless you follow the process.
You can’t just read information, watch videos and expect that you know.
You gotta put hardwork.
There’s been weeks where I’ve just done nothing.
It slows me down and at the end of the day I’ve got myself to answer for that.
The more you become accountable to yourself and show up in calls.
It’s hard sometimes because you just want to kind of bury yourself in the sand but sometimes that’s when you have to go on the calls.
Continue being accountable because you’ll learn the bit of information you need for that weight to keep going.
As well in our industry because you are solo entrepreneurs like you own business you sometimes end up getting so down because you don’t have anyone else to talk to.
I think having that support was what kept me alive in the business and the industry.
I guess I learnt a lot about sales and marketing, practical things that I just always wanted to know and it made it more simple.
Awesome. I think they are great lesson.
The biggest thing is you applied yourself, you did the work, you start as a beginner.
Now, you’re on way to master some of those things, which is awesome.
Do you have anything to say for those on the edge of joining this program but hesitant to do so?
The amount of money that it cost to sign up was pretty much all I had in my account.
I remember asking Pete,
‘Are you sure that you’re not going to scam me?’
I was scared it was a scam.
I was very on the fence at very end and was like maybe I shouldn’t, I should be practical.
I shouldn’t waste my money on something.
I need to save this money and then something just saved my brain.
You need to invest in yourself.
This will be well spent will come back to you.
It has come back to me.
I hate to think where I’ll be now, if I hadn’t done that.
I just had so many issues that I don’t want being told what to do.
I think, just do it.
I still remember in the chat so well.
You’re like ‘I’m in New Zealand and you’re in Australia. How do I know this isn’t a scam?’
It was a legitimate question.
I’ve been scammed before so, my scam alert is really high.
Your scamometer was up.
In the spirit of full transparency, is there anything we can do to make this course better and to get quicker results like how could we improve it?
I had a phone call with you earlier.
I’ll say this for anyone who’s listening.
What I thought would be improved on the program was just having scalability of your funds.
There was one point in the program where I didn’t feel like I had the money to invest to do the activity to continue my business.
Maybe there’s another way to do that, that doesn’t cost so much money which it was and in hindsight it’s nothing now.
It was just that and I think there was something else.
I had to revoke it because I was like, ‘Is there a way you can pay someone to do your ads and just offload that?’
But it’s like I realize now I’m actually trying to offload but you need to learn because if you’re 10000 efforts in just learning.
The program is fantastic and you are always adapting.
Even my time in the program, I’ve seen it evolve.
You’re continually making it better and you’re continually asking for feedback anyway.
Well it’s a pretty good wrap of all what you’ve achieved and some good advice for on the fence.
Guys, if you need help with this please ask me.
If you want results what Catherine has achieved.
Please reach out.
We can have a shot.
We can see if it’s a good fit.
Catherine, thanks so much for your time and I will see you soon.
