I used to believe that being vulnerable was WEAK. That it was lame. But it’s NOT true.
In today’s video, we’ll talk about WHY being vulnerable is the key to growing an audience and WHAT you need to do.
Let’s get started…
Think of any of your favorite TV series or books or movies, and then think of the characters you really love.
Just have a think for a moment.
Is it Batman? Superman? House? Dexter?
Think of any cult show with a really strong character like that.
If you dig a little bit deeper, you’ll notice something – They’re not perfect.
They have their lights and their dark, they have their good and their bad.
You know, Batman is rich.
He’s very rich and very strong and saves the world but he’s also dark and broody, has resentment about, you know, his parents’ deaths.
Superman can save the world, can jump tall buildings but he has kryptonite and he also, like if you think about it, he also sucks with women.
As in his perfect, good looking chiseled dude with superpowers, but he gets weirder and nervous around talking to women.
So no matter what character you look at in comic books or a great magnifying lens into this world, no matter what world’s looking to your favorite characters, are not all positive.
So, why is it we view on your social media, on your marketing that you’re showing just the positive side?
Why don’t you let a little bit of lighting in?
Why don’t you be a little bit vulnerable?
Share experiences that shaped you, share something you know that you are ashamed of and not proud of, let some cracks show in your perfect armor, and you’ll actually attract more people into your life.
How do you do that?
Start with something small.
You don’t have to go from zero to 10 or zero to 100 real fast.
Start with something small, something you’ve never shared before.
Be a little bit vulnerable because the characters that you and I love are the ones who have super strength but also show some weaknesses.
They’re not all one dimensional.
And with your marketing, if you’re one dimensional, you’ll be forgotten.
If you’re just this perfect working out robot machine, you will be forgotten.
So, be vulnerable. Let some cracks show and you’ll become a more attractive character to your prospects and to your clients.
I hope this helps.
Take care and I’ll talk soon. Cheers!
